Delay Between Start Process
When starting the application, all streams can begin simultaneously, which may cause system resource strain or performance issues. The Delay between start process parameter allows you to stagger stream startup times by introducing a configurable delay between each stream’s initialization.
How It Works
This option sets a delay (in milliseconds) between the start of each stream when the application launches. Instead of all streams starting at once, they start sequentially with the specified interval between each one:
- First stream starts immediately
- Wait for the specified delay (e.g., 1000ms)
- Second stream starts
- Wait for the specified delay again
- Third stream starts
- And so on…
Note: This delay only applies during application startup, not when manually starting or restarting individual streams during normal operation.
Configuration
To configure the delay between stream startups:
- Navigate to Settings in the application menu
- Find the Delay between start process option in the settings list
- Enter the desired delay value in milliseconds
- Save the settings
Example Scenario
Consider a system with 10 streams and a Delay between start process setting of 1000ms (1 second):
- 00:00 - Application starts, Stream #1 begins
- 00:01 - Stream #2 begins
- 00:02 - Stream #3 begins
- 00:03 - Stream #4 begins
- …and so on
- 00:09 - Stream #10 begins (the last stream)
This approach distributes the startup load over 9 seconds instead of having all streams compete for resources simultaneously.
